Sony Portable Reader – Books on Screen

sony portable readerBookish frequent travelers will no doubt be intrigued by the Sony Portable Reader, a paper-back sized device that allows you to purchase, download and read electronic books on a screen designed to resemble paper. At about 9 oz and 1/2″ thick, the slim and lightweight reader can store up to 80 electronic books – more than you’ll need for any trip. The battery lasts for approximately 7,500 page turns. Again, more than you’ll need to turn on any flight. The reader also downloads and displays PDFs, RSS feeds and other text files, so you can catch up on your favorite blogs and news while you’re traveling.

Once you own the portable reader, you still have to purchase books via a source like Connect eBooks. The prices per ebook are generally cheaper than those for audiobooks – and you’re actually reading instead of just listening. And if you buy a Sony Portable Reader in time for the holidays, you’ll receive a $50 voucher to buy ebooks through Connect.

The price: $349.
