New at TravelPost.com!

sofitel chicago water tower hotelHark, TravelPosters! New site features have arrived. The masterminds behind TravelPost.com are always trying to enhance your hotel reviews with useful new features - all in the name of giving travelers like you reliable, straightforward and highly customizable information about the lodging options in your travel future.

Here’s what we got for ya:

- A revamped 1-10 scoring system for hotel reviews. We’ve also added phrases to help you demystify the numerical scores. For example, a score of 4.3 falls into the “mediocre” category, while a 7.5 is “great” and a 9.0 is “amazing.”

- Popularity rankings for each hotel. For each city, we’ve ranked hotels based on their average scores and the number of user reviews per hotel. Now you can see how each hotel stacks up against the competition.

Looking for the #1 hotel in Lake Buena Vista, FL for your next Disney vacation? TravelPosters say it’s Disney’s All Star Movie Resort.

How about San Diego’s #1 hotel? TravelPosters put the Marriott Hotel and Marina San Diego in the top spot.

Want to find a great hotel in Chicago for a jaunt there before freezing temperatures hit? TravelPosters say you can’t go wrong with the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower Hotel (pictured above). It’s the number one Chicago hotel on their list.

Want to dig deeper? You can always filter hotels according to your age, budget and preferences to find the best hotels for you - not just anyone.

Writing a hotel review on TravelPost.com is quick and easy. Some might even say it’s a wee bit addictive. To get started, check out our hotel review guidelines. Then review a hotel and let those opinions rip!

Check San Francisco Hotel Photos Before Booking

Top of the Mark Would you like to see the view from the Top of the Mark at San Francisco’s Mark Hopkins InterContinental Hotel before you book your room? Well, voila, fair readers. There it is.

In fact, we’ve got photos taken by travelers for almost all San Francisco hotels on TravelPost.com. We’ve got photographs of hotels in a lot of other cities, too, but our San Francisco image count is really bursting at the proverbial seams. We encourage you to check these traveler-generated hotel photographs out, whether you’re planning a trip or simply looking for images to compare with those you see online at the hotel’s official web site.

We’re building our inventory of photos taken by travelers just like yourselves everyday - actually, I should say TravelPosters are building it, not us. But we’re amped about it all the same. You can add your own hotel photos by visiting any TravelPost.com hotel page and looking for the Upload Your Photos link on the right side of the page.

Upload Your Hotel Pictures to TravelPost.com

Have you stayed at a great (or not so great) hotel lately? Are you about to embark upon your next big journey? Remember to take pictures of your hotel and your room and upload them to TravelPost.com the next time you review a hotel.

A picture of that super comfy bed or nasty toilet would make our day. Upload your digital photographs from any hotel review page on TravelPost.com.

Compare Hotel Prices on TravelPost.com

Meet TravelPost.com’s latest feature: the hotel comparison tool. Instead of just reading about a hotel, you can now easily compare rates from a variety of popular sources like Travelocity, Priceline, Orbitz and the hotel’s web site with a few simple clickety clicks. The best part? Saving money. The second best part? Only having to enter your arrival and departure information one time to get quotes from multiple sites.

For the Solita Soho Hotel in New York, I found the following for two guests staying in a non-smoking room with two double beds arriving on the night of July 14th (a Friday), checking out on July 15th:

Travelocity: $267.91

Priceline: $267.80

Orbitz: $269.56

Granted, in this case, the difference wasn’t earth-shattering. But that’s not the point. You never know when it will be. So use the tool. It’s the smart thing to do. You’ll see this new feature on every hotel page at TravelPost.com.

Real Hotel Pictures

westin new york times squareAll new at TravelPost.com: Real, original hotel pix taken by users to go along with TravelPosters’ hotel reviews.

There’s just something reassuring about seeing a hotel room in a picture taken by a regular Joe. It adds another layer of information that’s nice to have when you’re checking out hotels.

Check out all 18 real photos for San Francisco’s Hotel Monaco to see what the hotel looks like during the day, at night, inside and out.

Scroll through all six real photos for the Westin New York Times Square to find out what the fitness room really looks like.

And some pix (pardon the blurry one!) I added myself for the Doubletree Hotel Albuquerque.

To upload your own photos, just search for the hotel on TravelPost.com and click Upload Photos. It’s easy. You can do it.

Property Owners: Free Listing on TravelPost.com

Calling all property owners: Did you know that you can list your hotel, motel, resort, inn or other lodging option for free on TravelPost.com? Your listing can include tons of details about your property, including a link to your website and your phone number. Consider it free advertising that will give you exposure to the millions of travelers on TravelPost.com.

Why are we giving this away? The folks at TravelPost.com are working hard to build the world’s most comprehensive, unbiased and useful directory of places to stay. Listing your property ensures that TravelPost.com features the most accurate and up to date information available about your business. It also helps us grow.

Listing your property is easy:

- First, search for your property to make sure you’re not already listed (we have over 40,000 hotels already on TravelPost.com!) If you’re already listed, make sure your information is correct. You can make changes by clicking the “correct errors and omissions” link. Tell us what needs to be fixed, and we’ll get your listing fixed as soon as possible.

- Don’t see your property? If you’re not listed, go to the Contact Us page and click the “tell us about a hotel we’re missing” link. Then, enter the required information including your property’s street address, web site and phone number (so we can verify the information is accurate). If everything checks out, our team will add your property within a few days and confirm changes by email.

Questions? Contact us.

Holding Down the Fort

Costa RicaWell, I know I have some well-traveled shoes to fill while your trusted blogstress Lorraine is off getting hitched and cavorting around South Africa. Can’t say I’m not a wee bit jealous. I’m due for an international adventure of my own. But for the next few weeks I’ll satisfy my wanderlust by simply writing about it, not to mention reading about yours.

So stay tuned. I’ll bring you the same tips, pics and tidbits you’ve come to expect from the TravelPost.com Insider. But I can’t promise I’ll stay put while doing so!

Meet Guest Blogger Lisa B.

lisa bMeet Lisa B., your guest blogstress extraordinaire. I’ve been mentioning my upcoming trip to South Africa for months, and it’s finally here. Just got to take care of a little thing called getting married first, and then we’re off.

While I’m gone, Lisa B. will be taking the reigns here at the TravelPost.com Insider. She’ll be scouring the web for bits of travel information and advice you can’t live without and highlighting cool photographs, blog posts and hotel reviews from other TravelPosters.

I’ll be back in June. Until then, happy travels to all.

Find Your Hotel Match On TravelPost.com

Tip #4: TravelPost.com’s Hotel Matching Tool

If driving like a grandma and resigning yourself to a summer of hunting down cheap gas stations sounds like terribly irksome work, try saving money on hotel accommodations instead. May I humbly suggest a tool you’ll find right here on TravelPost.com. Not to toot our own horn here – well, actually, that’s exactly what we’re doing – but using TravelPost.com’s hotel matching system is a quick, easy way to find hotels that offer everything you need, but also match your budget.

Here are a few quick matches I found:

Los Angeles

Leisure travelers ages 31-45 looking for $100-200 rooms in L.A. will find 21 matches, including the top-rated Luxe Summit Hotel Bel Air and the Loews Beverly Hills Hotel.

Dallas

Travelers to Dallas between the ages of 46 and 60 traveling on an economy budget will find positive reviews of the Crowne Plaza Dallas Market Center and Adam’s Mark Dallas.

Atlanta

Travelers under 30 who are heading to Atlanta for fun and leisure and want to spend less than $100 will find the Country Inn and Suites by Carlson and the Crowne Plaza Powers Ferry getting high ratings from TravelPosters within their age and budget range.

To make your own hotel match, visit TravelPost.com’s hotel reviews page, choose the state you wish to visit, and then choose your preferred city. A green box with 7 personalization options appears at the top of every city page. Make your selections, and you’re good to go. Want to try it out now? Click one of the cities listed above to get started.
