- Travel Trend: Ghana Reaches Out
-
Wednesday’s Morning Edition program on NPR included a story called African Slave Descendents Trace History in Ghana that identified the West African country’s efforts to woo U.S. travelers - especially those who can trace their history back to the slave trade - to visit and explore its Atlantic Coast. Officials in Ghana hope that embracing African Americans will result in more tourism dollars flowing into their country and, eventually, that African Americans and other members of the African Diaspora will return here to invest their resources in more permanent ways.
Ghana is not on the top of most Americans’ must-visit vacation lists, but the country’s efforts to attract foreigners makes it a destination to watch in the coming years. It could be one of the next African nations to welcome mainstream U.S. travelers to this vast continent’s shores.

Dining in Cape Town from the New York Times - basically had to post so I could always find the article - ’cause I’m going there in May and, man, I gotta eat some fusion.
