Hawaii: Interisland $29 Airfare Deal

Hawaii’s discount carrier go! has extended the deadline to purchase its $29 one-way interisland airfares until Oct. 1, 2006. These tickets are good for travel through the end of the year. The move prompted Aloha and Hawaii Airlines to match the offer. So get to island hopping!

go! Fare Sale for Hawaii - $29+

Heading to Hawaii this fall? Interisland airline go! announced its fall fare sale today. It runs through Aug. 11 (Friday) for travel through Dec. 31, 2006. Flights start at $29 one-way, which I like to think of as $58. But then, at least in Hawaii, you might actually be more likely to need one-way flights than roundtrip. Two days only…

United Rolls Out In-Flight Mai Tais

mai taiThe latest concept to enter the ongoing airline food dramaturgy: United’s Trader Vic’s menu, complete with Mai Tai cocktails (complimentary for biz and firstees only, naturally). Based on the restaurant chain’s Polynesian/Pacific Rim menu, the new offerings include salads with “Javanese” dressing, entrees like mahi mahi and short ribs (biz and first) and - for the plebes in coach - $5 sandwiches and salads featuring “Maui chicken” or sesame chicken.

The Trader Vic’s menu will debut United and Ted flights to and from Hawaii, as well as select U.S. flights over five hours.

The Honeymoons On Us program offers free nights at 28 of its North American hotels to newlyweds who hold their wedding reception at an InterContinental property. The number of nights you’re entitled to depends on how much you spend on your reception. According to BT, spending $15,000 translates into 3 nights, while $25,000 nets honeymooners seven nights.

Aloha Airlines Bday Ticket Giveaway

Aloha Airlines has announced its Our Birthday is Your Birthday promo for July 26, 2006. Here’s the deal: fly Aloha Airlines on July 26, 2006, and you’ll receive a gift certificate for one free (but non-transferrable) interisland ticket for use on your own 2007 birthday.

Kinda cool. If you just happen to be planning a trip to Hawaii and know you’ll be returning on your birthday next year. Obviously, this promo sounds cooler than it is - because how many people that are flying July 26 this year are going to be back in Hawaii on the exact day of their bday in ‘07? Kinda unlikely. But I am sure some folks out there will be able to take advantage of it. Consider this the latest installment in the ongoing Hawaii airline wars….

Marriott Stay For Breakfast Summer Visa Promo

Okay, unless you’re going to Hawaii, Marriott’s Stay For Breakfast summer promo isn’t being offered in the U.S., but it is good for Marriott hotels in the UK, Australia, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Africa. Here’s the deal: Book a two-night stay at a participating Marriott, JW Marriott or Renaissance hotel with your Visa card between May and September, have breakfast at the hotel, and you’ll receive a $100 pounds, Euro, etc., toward a future stay. The deal is also good for Marriott Courtyards, but you’ll only get $50. There are some pesky restrictions, but regular Marriott guests should take note.

Head West For Best U.S. Spa Resorts

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai SpaThe best spas the Northern Hemisphere has to offer are largely located on the Western side of the United States, at least according to Conde Nast Traveler’s April reader’s poll of the top 50 U.S. spas. A full five of the poll’s top 10 spa resorts are in Hawaii. A total of nine Hawaiian spa resorts grace the top 50. Seven of the top 50 hail from California, while Arizona and Las Vegas both have three properties on the list. Not surprisingly, the list includes plenty of Ritz Carltons and Four Seasons.

Who tops the list? Four Seasons Resort Hualalai Spa (pictured) on Hawaii’s Big Island.
