Aeromexico Three for Four Deal

aeromexico logoFlying with several others between the U.S. and Mexico before March 31st? If you purchase three Aeromexico adult fare tickets, you can get an additional ticket for free (you still have to pay fees and taxes totaling about $100). You can also get five tickets for the price of four.

The deal is called the Friends and Family Plan. I searched on the web site and didn’t see any information about it, but you can read details in the story linked below. My advice would be to call the airline directly if you are interested in booking this deal.

Economist City Guides

If you like your travel advice with a healthy dose of news and business-minded tips, then you shouldn’t miss The Economist’s City Guides. In addition to current events happening in your destination city, you’ll find extras like Cheat Sheets, which offer insider tips on basics like hotels and restaurants, as well as topics like taxis and bank holidays. In Dubai, for example, you don’t want to schedule meetings on Fridays, the country’s day of rest. In Hong Kong, business cards are a must for meetings. When you get to Mexico City, you don’t need to tip your taxi driver, but you should tip 10 percent or more at a good restaurant.

Passport Rules in a Nutshell

Confused about the new passport rules taking effect later this month? Here’s the bottom line, excerpted from MSNBC.com columnist Rob Lovitt’s Passport Rules Get More Confusing:

Barring additional changes, it breaks down like this: If you’re planning on visiting Mexico or the Caribbean and traveling by air, you will need a passport to get back into the U.S. beginning January 23. If you’re traveling by land or sea, however, you can go without until at least 2008. In other words, if you’re cruising to Cozumel, bon voyage; if you’re flying to Barbados without a passport, you may experience a few bumps on the flight back home.

Frontier Adds Sweet New Routes

frontier Denver-based airline Frontier has added flights between several California airports (Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego,) and, in corresponding order, several fun vacation destinations (Cabo, Las Vegas, Cancun). This is good news for Californians and those wishing to visit.

But Frontier has added many new flights recently in U.S. cities and beyond. Like Denver to Hartford, Kansas City to Cabo and Denver to Guadalajara.

Time to Shop - For a New Passport

passportInstead of kicking off your holiday shopping with a visit to the local mall, you might want to head to the nearest post office instead and start filling out your passport application. On January 23, 2007, the Department of Homeland Security will begin requiring all people enterting the U.S. to show passports - even U.S. citizens and those visiting from Canada, Bermuda and Mexico.

Hotels & Resorts to Pay U.S. Passport Fees

passportFirst Jamaica, now hotels and resorts across the Caribbean and Mexico are offering to pay passport fees for U.S. guests who buy vacation packages and hotel stays of 5 or more days through Bookit.com. Kind of cool when you consider that U.S. passports cost $97 for anyone 16 and over and $82 for kids under 16. Two adults + two kids under 16 = $358. The offer is good for travel between Jan. 1, 2007 and April 30, 2007.

Snowboard by Day; Fjords by Night?

access tripsAccess Trips makes me really wish I had $2446. The adventure travel company’s Hike & Ride Boat Cruise combines riding the slopes in pristine Norwegian backcountry with nightly accommodations on a ship that ferries passengers to various destinations in the Arctic Circle. The 8-day program promises lots of powder and scenic views in a remote part of the world most of us couldn’t explore on our own, but also teaches backcountry safety skills and avalanche rescue techniques.

The trips aren’t cheap, but they will leave you with more than memories. All Access Trips programs combine outdoor adventure with new skills for beginners to advanced levels. Among the offerings are sea-kayaking trips along Mexico’s Baja coast, mountain biking through Cappadocia, surfing in Morocco and rock climbing Italy’s Dolomites mountain range.
